Ebony was born a dark elf in a village near Neriak, on the planet of Norrath (Forgotten Realms). When he was about 30 years old, a young age for an elf, humans began raiding his village. When the elves retaliated the ogres launched a massive attack. Ebony was taken by his parents who showed him an escape route, instructing him to run and not look back. Being too young to disobey or even fully understand what was going on, he ran a safe distance from the village with only his hawk Silverbeak, then just a hatchling, as his companion. When he felt it was safe he turned back to see massive pillars of smoke coming from the vicinity of his village. His only supplies were a knapsack containing rations and things from his parents. Ebony slept the night in a nearby glade and when the morning came, traveled back to his village. As he emerged from the trees he was shocked to find the village burnt to cinders. Bodies were strewn everywhere, as he searched among them he found those of his parents, siblings, and other close relatives. Amid his tears he swore that day that the humans responsible would pay, even if it took his whole life.
